Bazen büyümeleri alerjik bünyelerde daha sıklıkla görülür ki hava yolunu kapatıp, sinüs orifislerini kapatarak ciddi sinüs enfeksiyonlarına neden olabilirler. Genellikle septum eğrilikleri ile birlikte konka büyümeleri görülür. Bazen paradoks konka veya konka bülloza gibi anormal yapılanmaları olabilir ve ciddi sinüs patolojileri meydana gelebilir. Bu sebeple konka cerrahileri nazal kavitenin bütününde sağlıklı nefes almada önemli bir rol üstlenir.
