The shape and size of the chin is important for the symmeyrt and the aesthethics of the face. Chin positioned forward or behind the upper bony structure may create an undesired look especially from the side view, thus affecting the general aesthethics of the face.

Chin can be shaped surgically. Implants can be placed or excess bones can be removed depending on the needs of the patient. Surgery is performed under general anesthesia; cuts are either in the mouth or under the jaw.

Swelling and bruising may occur for up to 7-10 days following surgery.
